Trick-or-Treating Guide

City

Neighborhood / Street(s)

Helpful Notes

San Mateo

Avila Road (Aragon neighborhood)

Known for elaborate decorations. Can be very crowded and potentially overwhelming for very young children.

Casanova Drive (The Village) & nearby streets

Very popular and busy. Great for early trick-or-treating, as people start giving out candy around 5:30 PM. Plenty of available parking.

"The Lanes" (off Hacienda)

Good, festive area with lots of decorated houses. Series of cul-de-sacs (street names end in “lane”) closed to traffic.

Portola Dr. & Del Mar (near 25th Ave)

A big hit—very decorated and full of kids. A fun, high-energy area.

Sunnybrae (16th Ave)

Praised for decorations and a quieter kid-friendly feel with minimal car traffic.

Norfolk Street

The busiest street for those in the Shoreview, Parkside, or Los Prados neighborhoods.

Burlingame

Newhall Rd / Walnut Ave / Forest View Ave

Toddler-friendly and generally not as crowded

Cabrillo Avenue (Easton Addition)

Very busy and festive. The 1400 block is a key spot, along with surrounding blocks. Police often close the street to traffic, making it a packed, pedestrian-friendly zone.

Belmont

Mezes Avenue

Very popular and fun, especially if you enjoy crowds. The street is blocked off to cars for safety.

Hillsborough

Geri Lane

The entire street participates and is closed to cars. Expect to park farther away and walk to the street.

A note from the founder, Stacey:

Hi! 👋 I'm a local mom with young children and built Klabbit to lighten the mental load for busy families—it's the community resource I always wished existed.

Now you can see the Peninsula's best kid-friendly activities at a quick glance, every week. Meeting up with a friend? Send them this newsletter and pick something together. Kid up early from their nap? Check what's happening nearby!

Because parenting in the Bay Area is hard enough. Figuring out what to do this weekend shouldn't be.

Found this helpful? Share it on Konstella, in your classroom's WhatsApp chat, or send to a friend you want to see at an event! Because spontaneous playdates from bumping into each other are the best.

See me at an event? Come say "hi"! Have feedback on the newsletter? I'd love to hear it! To share your experiences and pro tips with our community: find me on instagram, reply to this newsletter, or email me at [email protected]. Cheers! 📬
